We highlight new products that Scottish c-store retailers might want to stock

1. Altos Classic Lime Margarita

PERNOD Ricard-owned tequila brand Altos Tequila has launched a new ready-to-serve Classic Lime Margarita.

Aiming to deliver bar-quality serves in seconds, the new drink has been made using Altos Plata Tequila, triple sec, natural lime flavouring and agave syrup.

The new release comes in a 750ml glass bottle, with an RRP of £15 each, sitting at an ABV of 14.9% and is available from Tesco, Asda as well as Amazon before it rolls out to other grocers this spring.

Josh McCarthy, brand director for Pernod Ricard UK, said: “The tequila category is booming and this new, accessible format makes it so simple for people to create the perfect margarita at home.

2. New line-up for Brothers Cider

SOMERSET-BORN Brothers Cider reckons its new relaunch will help to reignite the UK’s cider category in time for summer.

Encompassing new liquids, packaging and flavours, the brand aims to look, taste and communicate differently, according to Brothers.

New packs of the cider have already started appearing on store shelves across the UK, including Tesco, Booker, One-Stop and Morrisons.

The new line-up will now focus on four key permanent flavours in the range with App-Solutely Pear-fect apple and pear cider; Un-Berrylievable blackberry and raspberry; Best of the Zest orange and lemon; and Berry Sub-Lime a union of lime and raspberry.

3. Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin

UKIYO Spirits, owned by Drinksology Kirker Greer (DKG), has launched a new small-batch classic dry gin.

Aiming to capture the tastes and aromas of Japan in a bottle, the new Ukiyo Tokyo Dry Gin joins Ukiyo Blossom Gin and Ukiyo Yuzu.

It’s made using indigenous rice grown in various regions of Japan as well as five botanicals – yuzu peel, mikan peel, sakura flower, sakura leaf and sansho pepper.

Ali Pickering, chief marketing officer at DKG, said: “These carefully chosen ingredients combine to express the diverse terroir and tastes of Japan – resulting in an elegant and delicately aromatic classic dry gin.”

4. Foster’s Proper Shandy

HEINEKEN UK has introduced its new Fosters Shandy cans across retail.

Available in 440ml can packs of four and 10 at £3.75 and £9.25 RRP respectively, the Foster’s Proper Shandy combines Foster’s Lager with lemonade in the same can to offer the timeless British drink serve in a convenient canned format.

Richard Barnes, marketing manager – Foster’s at Heineken UK, said: “We are thrilled to be launching Foster’s Proper Shandy to the off-trade, delivering something brand new into classic lager and reigniting interest in the category – not only for existing drinkers, but also to help recruit new ones.”
