SPAR Scotland is gearing up for an important role in the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships.

The major sporting spectacle is taking place in Glasgow from 1-3 March and the symbol group is an Official Event Supporter.

Spar Scotland will provide products, including sandwiches, yoghurt, fruit and nutrition bars, to help fuel the hundreds of volunteers and staff who will be working at the championships.

The convenience retailer will also provide drinks for other client groups present.

The company has also introduced a bespoke new livery design to promote the event on vehicles delivering goods to Spar stores the across Scotland.

Spar Scotland has also invested heavily to support the promotion of the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships with social media, Spar in-store radio advertising, in-store digital screens and point of sale, consumer competitions and PR.

Chief executive Colin McLean said: “As one of the biggest and highest-profile events in the sporting calendar to be held in Scotland this year, Spar Scotland is thrilled to be announced as one of the Official Event Supporters of the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships.”

Head of marketing Paula Middleton: “Our vehicles travel all over Scotland delivering products to SPAR stores and the new livery on two of our vehicles is a great opportunity to promote our event sponsor status. We are excited to play our part in promoting this big occasion.”

During the campaign, 15p from the sale of every Rollover Hotdog was donated to the leading end-of-life charity.

The £2,500 raised was matched by a similar donation from Spar Scotland wholesaler CJ Lang.

Marketing chief Middleton said: “Our donation will support 218 hours of care from Marie Curie nurses, making a huge difference to people living with terminal illness, and their loved ones, across Scotland.”
