STRATHMORE Foods reckons it will bring plenty fun “roond here” with new special packs of McIntosh of Strathmore for Burns Night featuring Scottish DC Thomson comic strip character, Oor Wullie.

The new limited-edition packs of Haggis, Neeps & Tatties as well as Vegetarian Haggis, Neeps & Tatties ready meals feature a special-edition Oor Wullie comic strip to mark the Scottish seasonal occasion, with the character enjoying a McIntosh meal.

The limited edition packs were made available from 3 January and can now be found in Co-op, Spar and Scotmid, as well as across supermarkets including Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores. The Vegetarian Haggis, Neeps & Tatties option is exclusive in Aldi, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s stores.

And with only a limited number of packs available, Strathmore reckons fans will be keen to pick up a pack to help bring a humorous touch to the evening’s meal throughout January.

Gareth Whelan, editorial director at DC Thomson, said: “Oor Wullie has been part of Scottish culture for generations and we are delighted to collaborate with McIntosh on what is a ready-made partnership for Burns Night.

“Wullie is never happier than when food is involved and this Burns supper scran definitely meets with his approval.”

Julie Nisbet, managing director at McIntosh, said: “We’re thrilled to join forces with DC Thomson to bring a touch of Oor Wullie to the celebration of Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns.

“Our consumers grew up with Oor Wullie, so having his family eating a McIntosh meal on our packs is not only a delicious way to honour this cultural tradition but is also a playful nod to the Scottish heritage that both McIntosh and the character is known for.”
