Scottish firm highlights importance of stocking quality frozen treats for summer
THERE is no better accompaniment to a warm summer’s day than a cold bowl of your favourite ice cream.
Plenty of Scottish consumers would agree with the sentiment here, too, and take the chance to enjoy a scoop or two of their favourite iced delight for a night on the couch or a sunny day in the garden.
And it’s exactly these occasions that Mackie’s of Scotland is keen to make the most of with its range of premium ice cream.
Graham Park, national account manager at Mackie’s of Scotland, said: “Summer is a fantastic time of year for frozen treat suppliers, even in Scotland!
“Ice cream brands, such as Mackie’s, can expect strong sales throughout the summer period – however long that may be.
“We saw a big uptick in demand for single portion tubs during the pandemic and responded with the launch of our Mini Collection. That trend has stuck as things got back to normal.“
Making the most of the coming summer months is clearly something that Mackie’s is keen to latch on to and it should come as no surprise that the firm has just launched a new variant in its wide range of premium ice cream options, aiming to bring that extra dollop of indulgence to consumers for those warm summer nights.
The firm’s new Mackie’s of Scotland Toffee Fudge Dairy Ice Cream launched last month and is now available in stores across Scotland.
The new launch follows on from a survey in which consumers voted for their favourite flavour combination and – with 40% of the vote – the new toffee fudge combination stood out on top.
To help maximise on their sales this summer, Park has pushed retailers to ensure they have the best-selling ice cream options readily available to customers and bring in some excitement with the NPD.
He said: “There are several ways in which retailers can make their frozen fixture more appealing. However, stocking the best-selling lines and brands, as well as communicating clearly all base and promotional pricing for products, will pay off.
“Mackie’s, for instance, is the number one selling ice cream brand in Scotland, and is therefore likely to generate more sales for retailers than other brands.”
