GREENS Retail has opened three new stores – taking the convenience chain up to 19 shops.

The expanding portfolio across Scotland has seen Greens outlets launched in Dunblane, Strathblane in Stirlingshire and Ceres in Fife in recent weeks.

The ‘destination’ shops include Pret Express coffee to go, award-winning Fisher & Donaldson bakery goods and Skwishee frozen fizzy drinks.

Group managing director Harris Aslam said: “We are thrilled to have three further stores join the Greens family in Scotland. The phenomenal response from local communities, which we are an integral part of, is testament to the tailored Greens retail proposition as well as passion that our store and central teams clearly have.

“There is significant growth to come, as well as exciting innovations to be announced in the coming weeks and months across our estate.”

Post offices cashing in on bank closures

CONTINUED bank closures have seen rising footfall at its branches, the Post Office (PO) claims.

PO cash transactions in March amounted to £3.29billion at its 11,500 sites – their highest level since last September, excluding Christmas.

In Scotland, cash deposits were up 11.6% on February, at £165m, while withdrawals were 14.8% higher at £58.4m.

The PO’s Martin Kearsley said: “Postmasters tell us bank closures mean they’re the only locations where consumers and businesses can do their banking.

“That’s why we’re increasing banking deposit remuneration by 20%.”
