LIMITED-EDITION treats during celebrations are always a sure-fire way to drive up some store sales across all of retail.
Whether it’s for Christmas, Easter or the summer sun, consumers love to make the most out of seasonal options and this should be no different for the snacking category.
As such, Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats (MCD&T) reckons retailers should be able to grab a slice of the action with its Maltesers Easter cake bars, especially after the firm noted the rising popularity of the category.
Nielsen EPOS data to 8 October 2022 found that the total cake bar market was worth £9.7m and is growing at a rate of 2.3%, with the MCD&T range outperforming the total market and the Maltesers brand in particular growing by 23%.
It makes sense, then, that MCD&T has touted its Malteser Easter Cake Bars in time for the season to help push retailer sales.
The cake bars combine a light sponge with a malt cream topping including crunchy Malteser pips, with all if it covered in the brand’s chocolate.
Michelle Frost, general manager at MCD&T, said: “As limited-edition SKUs, the Maltesers Easter Cake Bars, with their fun packs offer something different to cake bar shoppers.”
