MORE celebration could take place at home this year as people cope with the rising cost of living, according to KBE Drinks.
The company behind the Kingfisher and Sagres beer brands predicts that having less disposable income may well mean fewer visits to pubs, which should present an opportunity for convenience retailers.
John Price, head of marketing at KBE Drinks, said: “We’ve recently carried out some consumer research specifically around festive alcohol habits, which has revealed some interesting but not entirely unexpected outtakes.
“Some 76% of those interviewed confirmed they planned to buy bigger pack formats than usual over the Christmas period.”
Turning his attention to his company’s brands, Price said: “We know that a turkey curry is a very popular dish on Boxing Day and a delicious way of using up those leftovers.
So what better way to wash that down than with a curry’s perfect partner… a nice, cold Kingfisher beer.”
