Quality, heritage and loyalty has kept the brand a popular choice for consumers across the country

FROM tea cakes to caramel wafers, it’s likely that there isn’t a single Scot out there who hasn’t tasted Tunnock’s before.

And the brand hasn’t strayed far from its beginnings, with a small bakery still found within its Uddingston factory as well as keeping its store just around the corner, which stocks a range of baked treats in addition to Tunnock’s familiar range of biscuits and merchandise.

Quality products appeal to consumers

To hit this level of success, Tunnock’s said maintaining its high level of quality across its products is why it remains such a popular brand throughout the country.

A spokesperson for Tunnock’s said: “Success is something we have never taken for granted.

“it is the result of sustained hard work, attention to detail and making sure that complacency never enters our doors.

“Our brand appeals to consumers because we keep our end of the bargain.

“Few people, if any, get their money easily. Our consumers have to earn the money they hand over in exchange for a Tunnock’s chocolate biscuit.

“They, quite rightly, expect us to earn it, too; by giving them a product of the highest quality, presented in a size they consider fair.”

Along with quality of product, the brand believes its heritage to be a strong reason why Scottish consumers remain loyal to the brand and continue to pick from its range of Tea Cakes, Caramel Wafers, Caramel Logs, Snowballs and Wafer Creams.

The spokesperson said: “Tunnock’s is very much a Scottish company.

“We believe the fact that the company is privately owned, and now into the fifth generation of the founder’s family, is important to the community in Scotland.

“The company is run by people who are right here, is seen to be accountable and much more likely to honour its obligations.

“Trust is a very important part of brand value.”

Continuing success for 2023

This focus is set to be maintained for the future as well, as Tunnock’s aims to continue producing its range of treats that Scottish consumers are all too familiar with, while also ensuring its self-confessed level of quality is maintained.

The spokesperson for Tunnock’s said: “During 2022 we continued to promote the brand in a variety of ways, including advertising, press and public relations, sponsorship, exhibitions and in-store promotions.

“In our charity work, we quietly give something to a very wide range of good causes.

“The next year will bring its own challenges and, as a management team, it is our job to remain fully focused and balanced.

“Maintaining product quality and fully satisfying our customers will again, in 2023, be our objectives.”
