NEW laws banning the use of certain single-use plastic cutlery, plates and food and drink containers have come into force.
As of 1 June, it is unlawful to make and supply commercially any of the following single-use plastic items in Scotland: Cutlery (forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks and similar utensils); plates; beverage stirrers; food containers made of expanded polystyrene; cups made of expanded polystyrene.
Plastic straws are exempt from the regulations, due to accessibility requirements for some consumers.
