GRANT funding has been flowing to the Scottish wholesale sector, as it recovers from the economic turbulence of the pandemic.
The SWA has welcomed the Scottish Government’s most recent announcement that an additional £10 million is being made available to firms.
This is on top of the £5m of dedicated funding for wholesale that was announced by the Scottish Government last December, as part of the £8m supply chain funding programme included in its £100m Omicron business support package.
Colin Smith, chief executive of the SWA, said the additional support was secured as a direct result of the association’s discussions with the Scottish Government.
“Wholesalers haven’t received the same benefits as many other businesses such as rates relief or strategic framework grants over the past year.
“The SWA highlighted this anomaly and the real hardship faced by wholesalers to the Scottish Government. So this latest dedicated funding recognises the key role that wholesalers play in the food and drink supply chain, including the supply into schools and hospitals,” he said.
