Award winning retailer teams up with Bestway in symbol switch to Costcutter
FALKIRK retailer Anand Cheema has signed on with Bestway and will now trade under the wholesaler’s Costcutter symbol.
Anand, who scooped the Best new Store Award at the Scottish Grocer Awards 2021, previously traded under the Spar fascia.
The 24-year-old retailer – whose father, SGF chief executive Pete Cheema, also traded under the Costcutter banner in the 90s and early 2000s – said he was delighted to join the retail brand.
“We have a successful history with the Costcutter brand,” he said, “We still have a great relationship with members of the team.”
As part of the fascia switch, Anand has scheduled a full spring refit for his Costcutter – Fresh in Falkirk store.
“This is the next stage in our growth and development in a fast-changing market.
“We know that consumers’ shopping behaviours are changing fast right now, and we want to ensure we are at the forefront of that change,” he said.
Jamie Davison, head of new business and store development at Bestway Retail, said: “We are delighted that one of Scotland’s most exciting young retailers has joined our Costcutter brand as it’s a great time to join the Bestway family.
“As a family-owned business, Bestway has been very clear about its focus since the 1970s: helping retailers thrive.”
He added: “Anand has already had great success in his retail career, and we believe that together, we can help him grow his business even further.”
