Support for mental health aid

JW FIlshill has put mental health front and centre with the launch of a new Wellness Group providing colleagues with mental health and wellbeing support.

Amanda Casey, health and safety manager at JW Filshill, helped to set up the group, which now has over 20 fully-trained mental health first aiders working to support their colleagues as well as their friends and family too.

Casey said: “With the Wellness Group and organised activities such as hill walking, a bootcamp in the car park and a hugely successful step challenge, we bridge the gap between homeworkers and those on site to promote the physical health and mental wellbeing of all employees.”

Activities so far have included a hike up the Pap of Glencoe (pictured) which Casey said was “hugely successful” and “boosted everyone’s spirits.”

Simon Hannah, chief executive of Filshill, said: “This initiative has been recognised as the most successful one in the history of the business in terms of bringing our employees together in the past year, under Amanda’s stewardship, we have dedicated more resources towards improving the mental health and wellbeing of our employees than ever before.”
