Strathmore Foods eyes BNI success

Strathmore Foods managing director Julie Nisbet reckons chilled ready meals are perfect for the big night in.

AS the nights draw in, Strathmore Foods is set to launch two chilled ready meal flavours promising comfort and convenience.

The new McIntosh Lorne, Beans & Mash, and McIntosh Beef & Haggis Lasagne ready meals are set to land on shelves this month.

Julie Nisbet, managing director of Strathmore Foods, said the new flavours are the “perfect choice” for a big night in, or for consumers “looking for a quick meal after a long day back in the office.”

The launch comes as Scottish consumers find themselves increasingly on the go in the wake of lockdown restrictions easing, which Nisbet suggested could change the dynamic of the big night in occasion.

“As the pandemic eases and shoppers move back to previous habits, the purpose of a night in is shifting from an effort to replace the loss of a night out, to truly enjoying rest and comfort at home again,” she said.

Chilled ready meals also represent an affordable option for price conscious consumers according to Nisbet, who highlighted research conducted by professional services firm Accenture, which suggested many shoppers may be wary of spending in the current economic climate.

“The anticipated difficult economic times ahead could potentially shift demand back towards more economy options for at home eating including standard tier chilled ready meals such as McIntosh of Strathmore,” she said.
