Aldi is aiming to recruit more than 400 new staff members.

ALDI is on a recruitment drive in Scotland, with the discounter aiming to recruit 490 new employees across its Scottish operations between now and Christmas.

Roles to be filled include apprenticeship and part-time positions such as store assistant and warehouse logistic assistant, as well as store manager positions.

Stores where Aldi is looking to recruit staff include Aberdeen, Ayr and Bathgate.

Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, said: “There’s something here for everyone, from new starters looking to take their first step on the career ladder, to more experienced team managers seeking a new challenge.

“Our amazing colleagues are central to everything we do at Aldi and remain one of the key factors in our success.

“As we continue to grow, we’re looking for more ambitious and hard-working individuals to join our team at stores and distribution centres across Scotland.”

The recruitment drive comes as Aldi prepares to open six new Scottish stores, bringing the total number of Aldi stores in Scotland to 102.

New Aldi stores are set to open in Edinburgh, Dalkeith, Aberdeen, Govan, Cumnock and Hamilton.

A new store will also be opening in the Gateside Commerce Park in Haddington to replace the current Aldi store.

Aldi will also be investing in revamps of their existing Rutherglen, Strathhaven, Forfar and Inverness stores.
