WITH more of us drinking coffee on the go, Jacobs Douwe Egberts reckons this presents an opportunity for c-store retailers to expand their drinks range.
Category team leader, Hannah Morris, said: “Cold coffee is one of the fastest growing trends within out of home coffee consumption.”
She added that in-home cold coffee sales are up 49% compared to two years ago.
Morris continued: “Last year total cold coffee valued at £164m RSV, suggesting there is still an opportunity for retailers to get on board.
“With the cold coffee market booming, this is a perfect opportunity for retailers to maximise summer sales by introducing something new and exciting especially around the barbecue occasion.”
The Kenco Iced Latte range from JDE includes original, vanilla and salted caramel flavours.
Morris said: “Kenco Iced Latte allows the consumer to create a coffee shop quality iced Latte in the comfort of their home, or when they are out and about enjoying the warmer weather, by just adding cold water.”
Morris advised retailers to use POS to help shoppers find cold coffee products in store and concluded: “This is a key opportunity for introducing iced coffee for the coming season.”
