ALDI’s mammoth frozen and chilled facility in Bathgate has opened its doors.
The 17,000 square metre warehouse facility represents a £22 million investment and is expected to facilitate further expansion for the discounter.
Aldi currently has 92 stores in Scotland which stock more than 450 products from over 90 Scottish suppliers. The discounter is committed to increasing the number of Scottish products available in stores to 500 over the next two years.
Graham Nicolson, group buying director, Aldi Scotland, said: “It is important to us to mark the official opening of our new freezer and chill facility today, which reinforces our continued commitment to invest and support the Scottish food and drink industry.
“When the decision was made to create a dedicated Scottish Buying team eleven years ago it was made with the clear strategy that buying Scottish products would not cost our customers any more than buying the equivalent non-Scottish product.”
