TOP Scottish venison supplier Highland Game Ltd has secured a £13 million contract with Forestry and Land Scotland.
The five-year venison supply contract “will make a significant contribution to Scotland’s £7.25 million per year venison industry” according to rural affairs minister Mairi Gougeon. In providing a means of controlling Scotland’s deer population, Gougeon noted that the deal “brings added value to the rural economy and sustains hundreds of rural jobs and livelihoods.”
Highland Game managing director Christian Nissen said the contract would help toimprove availability of venison.
“This is a hugely successful pairing that is a real boost to the reputation of Scotland’s high quality food and drink sector.
“Scotland’s status as the UK’s largest venison producer looks to be significantly strengthened by the partnership,” he said.
