Supporting foodbanks

TWO Tesco stores in Greenock and Port Glasgow have been encouraging customers to donate to a local foodbank by signposting much-needed items in store.

Products like pasta sauces and tinned hot dogs had ‘Foodbank Needed’ stickers added to their shelf edge labels, prompting shoppers to pick them up while browsing.

The Inverclyde Foodbank said they were “so grateful” for the support from the supermarket.

The initiative was started by the foodbank itself, with Tesco bosses giving their permission to display the labels.
