NISA charity initiative Making a Difference Locally boosted its income by over £500,000 during the last financial year.

The charity’s income as of June 2019 rose to £1.35m, a £515k increase on the previous 12 months.

Nisa has credited the uplift to a change in the funding model. From 7 January, Nisa stores have carried a donation of 0.6% on all Co-op brand products sold.

Kate Carroll, head of charity at Nisa, said the new funding model made a “significant difference to the charity’s income.”
