CASH and card watchdog the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) has launched a new annual plan with a focus on ensuring a fair card market and continued access to cash for all communities.

PSR has set the goal of focusing “more directly on consumers’ experience of payments” in 2019/20, while also monitoring the impact of LINK’s cut in interchange fees on the UK free to use ATM network.

Consumer watchdog Which? had previously warned that lowering interchange fees across the UK cash machine network could lead to a reduction in the number of ATMs, which would be particularly harmful for rural Scottish communities.
