THE big night in continues to be a huge shopping mission in c-stores as more and more shoppers choose to save pennies by entertaining at home.
That’s good news for off trade beer sales according to Christian Sarginson, brand controller at Global Brands who said that with the average night out now costing around £55, “it is no surprise that over a quarter of consumers aged 24-31 prefer to stay at home and socialise.”
While shoppers may be stepping out on the town less, Sarginson said they are willing to travel further with their beer choices, creating a great opportunity for world beer brands.
Evidence of that trend is clear in the performance of Global Brand’s Mexican-inspired brew Amigos Tequila Beer. According to Sarginson; the brand is enjoying growth of more than 47% in Scotland and 55% volume growth overall. Amigos also boasts a broad appeal: 34% of its consumers are females compared to 13% within the wider beer category.
The beer is available in a PMP 500ml bottle as well as a 330ml 4-pack, with RRPs of £2.99 and £5.29 respectively.
