AS leaders in both houses continue to battle over what powers should go where, SRC director David Lonsdale has called for politicians at Westminster and Holyrood to work together to create the best possible conditions for the food and drink industry.
Lonsdale said Brexit will herald a “fresh chapter of devolution in the UK”, but suggested these powers shouldn’t be used to disrupt the UK’s internal single market.
“There are a small number of areas – such as on food and nutrition labelling – where we will want to see the fullest possible alignment post-Brexit, with the devolved and UK administrations working collegiately on a shared approach,” he said.
