DISCOUNTER Aldi has announced it is on a major recruitment drive, with the German firm aiming to employ 300 new staff members across Scotland in 2017.
Aldi will be recruiting for jobs throughout Scotland, predominantly at store assistant, assistant store manager and deputy store manager level, with all store employees earning a minimum of £8.53 per hour.
The recruitment drive comes as Aldi continues to rapidly gain market share in the UK’s grocery sector. Recent figures from Kantar Worldpanel reveal the discounter’s share of total GB grocery spending hit £1.84bn for the 12 weeks to 16 July, up 17.9% on the same period in 2016. Aldi currently has 74 stores in Scotland, with an additional four planned to open by the end of this year.
Richard Holloway, MD for Aldi in Scotland, said: “Attracting the best people is crucial to our future expansion plans.
“Our approach is to recruit the best people in retail, build amazing teams and invest in each employee’s long-term career development to ensure they operate in an environment where they feel engaged, motivated and challenged.”
