As reported in last month’s Scottish Grocer, Glasgow-based wholesaler JW Filshill said growth of its KeyStore convenience store brand, effective cost control and sales from its international division helped it record pre-tax profits of £0.9m in the year to January 31, 2016.
Filshill turnover was down 5.8% to £143m, reflecting decline in the tobacco market and price deflation in many categories.
But grocery and impulse categories grew during the year.
Managing director Simon Hannah, said the market remains highly competitive but the firm is well-positioned to take advantage of opportunities that it is creating.
