SAVOURY snack giant Walkers has introduced a reduced case size for its core range.
The new 32 case format, replacing the 48-pack case, is available for Walkers crisps, Doritos, Quavers, Wotsits, French Fries and Squares in both standard and price-marked packs.
Senior sales director impulse channel at brand owner PepsiCo said: “Our customers have told us managing their cash flow is key.
“We are delighted to be able to offer a new 32-case format as it will improve accessibility and help more retailers stock the best-selling brands.
“It’s a significant investment, but we are proud to be able to respond to our customer requests.”
• Pipers Crisps founder Alex Albone reckons discerning consumers will always look for great-tasting snacks and that it is not always just about price, promotion and innovation.
Instead, he argued, value offered through quality products is much more important.
“There’s a clear message for retailers; premium crisps offer a great opportunity to grow sales and increase margin by meeting consumer demand for greater choice and food quality,” Albone said.
• Jocelyn McNulty, marketing director of Tyrell’s, said consumers are continuing to look for locally made products with interesting provenance which is fuelling the performance of premium hand-cooked crisps.
