Scottish biscuits manufacturer Border Biscuits reckons its range is significantly outpacing a market it sees as down 1% year on year.
Quoting Kantar statistics Lesley Ann Gray, brand and sales manager, said: “With a retail value of £11.4m we have seen a 3.2% increase in value and 4.4% increase in volume. In Scotland Border Biscuits has a 17% share of the special treat biscuit category and is the 20th top Scottish food brand.
“This year we have also secured additional national listings across the portfolio, particularly on our best-selling dark and milk chocolate ginger range.
“Recent Kantar data shows that our Dark Chocolate Gingers are the nation’s favourite chocolate ginger biscuit and we produce over 20 million every year.
“Our timeless Classic range which we’ve been baking for over 30 years, using only the finest ingredients and traditional techniques, is at the heart of our brand portfolio and continues to go from strength to strength.
“Over 22 million of our Mini Packs, featuring favourites from the Classic range are sold every year, which is a 15% increase year on year. In addition, our extensive Christmas gift range also exceeded expectations last year with a 5% sales increase, making it a must stock range for this year.”
