BREAD brand Warburtons is the UK’s most chosen brand among fast-moving consumer goods, and it heads a first-ever top 10 of the chosen ones in which British brands take six places.
Market analyst Kantar Worldpanel issued its first Brand Footprint findings last month.
The ranking shows the brands being bought by the most consumers, most often. Warburtons leads the ranking as the UK’s most chosen brand, picked an average of 23 times a year by 84% of the population.
And the Kantar ranking showed that British brands dominate the chosen ones as Warburtons, was joined by McVities, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Walkers, Hovis and Kingsmill in the top 10.
Tim Kidd, managing director covering the UK, the Repubic of Ireland and USA at Kantar Worldpanel, said: “This is a stellar performance by UK brands with six of the top 10 being strong British names. Similarly, some of this year’s fastest risers, such as Cathedral City and Aunt Bessie, are quintessentially British and even the most popular global brands in the UK have Anglo-Saxon roots.”
The UK top 10 chosen brands are: 1 Warburtons; 2 Heinz; 3 Walkers; 4 Hovis; 5 McVities; 6 Kingsmill; 7 Birds Eye; 8 Müller; 9 Coca-Cola; 10 Cadbury Dairy Milk. Only one brand in the world – Colgate – currently reaches more than half of the global population, with 65% penetration.
