Nathan Evans and The Saint Phnx Band to star at GroceryAid festival

THE organisers of GroceryAid Scotland’s flagship Checkout Scotland music festival have announced that Nathan Evans and The Saint Phnx Band will be the headline act.
Their appearance at the charity gig will come after they will have been the starring attraction for the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in Glasgow’s Hydro on 23 July.
Checkout Scotland brings together hundreds of people from across the convenience, grocery, wholesale and FMCG sectors to raise funds to support colleagues across the industry who need a helping hand – from financial aid to counselling.
The event, which is taking place at the Barras Art & Design venue in Glasgow on 27 August from 4-11pm, will also feature DJ sets, various brand activations, food, drink and great networking opportunities.
Nathan Evans, from Airdrie, rose to fame via TikTok with his viral “Wellerman” sea shanty during the Covid pandemic. He teamed up with Glaswegian alternative-pop brothers Saint Phnx last year to form a trio performing a fusion of traditional Scottish folk music with powerful pop sounds.
They released their debut album, Angels’ Share, at the start of this year and have enjoyed hit success with songs such as Home and Arabella. The trio have played major sold-out gigs across the UK and Europe, including a 14,000-ticket show at the Glasgow Hydro.
Matthew Howie, co-chair of GroceryAid Scotland, said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome them to Checkout Scotland. It’s shaping up to be another fantastic day.
“We’re also grateful to the businesses and partners who help to make events like this possible. If your organisation would like to explore ways to support Checkout Scotland and the incredible work of GroceryAid, I’d be delighted to have a conversation.”
He urged anyone interested in getting tickets, sponsorship opportunities or with any questions to contact him via the Matthew.Howie@groceryaid.org.uk email address. Tickets can also be purchased via the https://www.trybooking.com/uk/FJTJ website link.
Howie added: “We’d love to see you there for what promises to be an unforgettable day of great music, fantastic networking and making a real difference to our industry.”
