Ice cream firm Ben & Jerry’s is offering independent retailers the chance to win a summer picnic event for their local community in a new exclusive competition.

ICE cream brand Ben & Jerry’s is giving independent retailers the chance to share some joy with their local communities through a new competition.

Running now until 19 July, the ice cream firm is offering one lucky retailer the chance to bag a community summer picnic event in the local area to bring local shoppers together for a key summer event.

Ben & Jerry’s has said it will work directly with the retailer to create a fun-filled community summer picnic day and provide benches, blankets and ice cream for the day. The ice cream firm also said it will work with local musicians and food vendors to help create a truly unique experience for the local area.

In addition to the community event, Ben & Jerry’s will also donate £2,000 to a local charity of the retailer’s choosing and provide three cases of Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough sandwich ice creams to the store owner.

The competition seeks to shine a light on Ben & Jerry’s latest launch which rolled out across stores at the beginning of the year. The innovation features the brand’s beloved cookie dough ice cream that has been sandwiched between two soft vanilla and cocoa swirled cookies.

The competition is open to independent retailers across the UK and to enter, store owners are invited to complete a short online form sharing why they should win and nominating a local community or cause that would also benefit from the prize.

Lucy McManus, brand manager at Ben & Jerry’s, said: “Convenience retailers play a vital role in their local communities, and our prize, inspired by our Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwich, is all about recognising that.

“By creating an event that not only rewards the retailers but also helps them to give back locally, we’re reinforcing their role at the heart of their communities. We’re always looking for ways to support retailers and bring a little extra joy to people across the country, and this felt like the perfect way to do it.”
