Spar Scotland operator shares sadness over death

DUNDEE wholesaler CJ Lang & Son has announced that its life president Joan Scott-Adie has died following a long illness.
Joan was the granddaughter Charles Lang Senior, who founded the business in 1919, and the daughter of Stella and Charles Lang, and dedicated her life to carrying on this family legacy as its long-serving chairwoman and majority shareholder.
Joan oversaw a significant period of growth for the business and helped to lead CJ Lang into a major independent food wholesaler and retailer, along with its work as the Spar wholesale partner for Scotland.
Throughout her time in position, Joan was supported by her devoted husband John, who predeceased her, and was also closely involved in the business.
Joan passed away on 15 June and is survived by her four daughters – Fiona, Serena, Caroline and Tanya – all of whom are also shareholders and serve as non-executive directors and continue to uphold the family’s proud legacy and involvement in the business.
The team at CJ Lang & Son has expressed its sadness and has said she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
