Borders store benefits from eight-week transformation

A CO-OP store in the Scottish Borders relaunched today (Thursday 2 April) – just in time for Easter – following an eight-week revamp.
The investment in the store on Peebles Road, Innerleithen, Peeblesshire, has led to a fresh look and enhanced range, while back-of-shop works were carried out to support operations and customer service.
New refrigeration at the Co-op cuts energy consumption while increasing the range and choice of fresh and chilled products, including fresh meats and dairy, chilled beers and wines, and fresh flowers.
These features sit alongside Co-op’s meal deals, food to go, hot food, Fairtrade products, ready meals, pizzas and everyday essentials.

The outlet now includes Costa Coffee Express, an enhanced bakery offering as well as additional customer benefits including payment services via PayPoint and parcel collections via Amazon and DPD.
There are offers, deals and promotions throughout the store, and member price savings create additional value for Co-op members who can save more with lower prices on everyday essentials that shoppers buy most. Young Scot cardholders also receive a discount in store.
Soft plastic recycling is available in store – making it easier for shoppers to return and recycle materials that are often not universally accepted via kerbside recycling, such as crisp packets and bread bags, lids from ready meals, biscuit wrappers and, pet food pouches.
Innerleithen’s Co-op opens between 7am-10pm daily and supports 18 local jobs.
Michelle Young, Co-op Area Manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Innerleithen – it is fantastic to have the opportunity to transform the community’s Co-op to enhance and improve the shopping experience, and we would like to thank the community for all their support during the works.
“Co-op has a focus on offering quality products, value and choice that can be enjoyed by everyone, along with a range of added services to make everyday life easier for the community.”
“We are extremely proud to be part of local community life, we’re here to serve and support the community, conveniently.”
