Co-op reopens its doors after 12-week investment plan

A CO-OP store in Tarbert has reopened its doors following a 12-week programme to transform the community store.
Located on Barmore Road in Tarbert, the refreshed Co-op store has unveiled an entirely new look and enhanced range to support its local shoppers. Alongside this, the investment into the store has also finished off some “essential works” to the building itself.
Tarbert’s new Co-op includes a Costa Coffee Express machine, enhanced bakery offer and new refrigeration units to help cut down on energy consumption for the store while also increasing the range of choice of fresh and chilled products.
This sits alongside Co-op’s meal deal offer and food to go range, alongside the store’s choice of Fairtrade products, ready meals, fresh meats and dairy as well as an expansive chilled beers and wine selection and everyday essentials.
The village store supports the community with 15 local jobs and opens between 7am-10pm daily. Locals can also benefit from some unique Co-op promotions and deals across products including member prices and Young Scot cardholder discounts.
Soft plastic recycling is also available at the store to support sustainability efforts across the local community.
Tarbert’s Co-op store is one of the 18 stores that the retail chain has confirmed it would open within the first three months of 2026. This includes brand new stores or re-launching after an investment.
David MacDougall, Co-op area manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Tarbert and extremely proud to be part of local community life. The store has been transformed with a great new look and enhanced range – we have a focus on offering quality products, value and choice that can be enjoyed by everyone. The whole team is really enjoying welcoming the community back into their Co-op.”
