  • How long have you worked in Scotland’s retail sector, and what led you to your current role?

I have worked in roles supplying the retail sector for over 30 years, mostly in the drinks industry. When the opportunity came up to work with the LMB UK team I jumped at the chance.

  • Tell us about your own success story, positive experiences, examples of leadership etc.

Having experience in building brands and supporting customer own-label projects, has been essential in the role that I have been doing.

Working under good leadership, with a culture of trust and accountability, has been a fantastic experience and one I plan to bring to my new position of leading the team that directly supports our customers.

  • What is the best thing about working in your industry?

The spirits industry is highly diverse and offers opportunities to travel, meet new people, learn new stories and have fun. It’s also an ever-changing landscape and you learn to embrace this as it brings new opportunity.

  • What challenges have you faced as a woman working in the industry?

Men dominated when I first started in sales and women held less senior positions, meaning there were fewer visible role models. This is changing and we see more women in leadership roles, providing the inspiration that wasn’t there earlier.

  • Who have been the most influential people in your career so far, and what did you learn from them?

I have worked with a number of great leaders over the years who have taught me many things: lead by example ; work hard, play hard; act with integrity; have some fun.

  • What advice would you give a young woman starting out in Scotland’s retail sector in 2026?

Soak up as much information as you can from others in your team or seek a mentor and say yes to opportunities. Don’t be scared to stand up and give your opinions.

  • Do you feel a positive culture in place helps you cement business relationships?

It’s essential and has an impact on every aspect of business. If employees feel positive, valued and trusted, they will deliver a superior service to our customers.

  • Any career insights you would like to share?

Try new things! Get as wide an experience as you can. This will allow you to have a more balanced view of any role and explore strengths you may not have considered.
