Co-op has marked its 10th new store across the whole of Scotland with the opening of its brand new, purpose-built shop in the village of Gairloch.

RETAIL chain Co-op has opened up its 10th new store in Scotland with its brand new Gairloch location.

The purpoe-built, new store has created 20 local jobs in the village and is open between 7am-10pm daily. The launch of the Gairloch store follows on from the opening, or re-opening, of stores in other locations across Scotland in recent weeks including in Brora, Fortrose, Callender and Inverness.

Located on the North Coast 500 route, the Gairloch store includes customer car parking with electric vehicle charing options and parking pays large enough to accommodate camper vans.

The store has a strong focus on fresh, healthy produce; meats and dairy; food-to-go and meal deals; bakery; Fairtrade goods; pizzas; flowers; ready meals; wines and beers; and everyday essentials.

Costa Coffee Express is also on offer with plans for a parcel collection locker already underway. Young Scot cardholders can also receive a discount off groceries in store.

Soft plastic recycling is also available in-store, to help cut down on littering and make it easier for shoppers to return and recycle materials that are not universally accepted via kerbside recycling.

Daniel Simpson, Co-op area manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Gairloch – we are proud to become part of local community life, we have had a great response today.

“The store looks fantastic, and we have a focus on being a hub locally for the community and visitors to the area – delivering the quality, choice, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone.

“We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community.”
