Expanding retail for communities throughout Scotland

RETAIL group Co-op has opened up four new stores across some key communities in Scotland, expanding its reach in the country.
A brand new store has opened in Selkirk, with Co-op relocating to a new, larger location on the High Street to better serve and support the local community.
Nicki Hill, Co-op Selkirk’s store manager, said: “Our brand new store looks fantastic, and we have had a great response from our customers. We have enjoyed welcoming the community into their new co-op.
“We’re proud to be part of the local community, and we’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community.”
The Brora Co-op re-opened following an extensive programme of improvements to “transform” the store. The Gowar Street store – which supports 20 local jobs – opened with a new served-over counter range including baked goods from Harry Gow, Costa Coffee Express and an increased range of fresh and healthy foods.
Meanwhile, on the Main Street in Callander, the local Co-op store relaunched with a brand new look, range and choice in food including a new hot food-to-go counter from Stephens Bakery.
And finally, the High Street Fortrose store re-opened following on from five weeks of works and improvements across the store.
All the stores feature the latest refrigeration tech which not only further cuts Co-op’s carbon footprint, but also enhances the store’s fresh, chilled and frozen range. Young Scot card holders can also receive discounts in Scottish stores.
Michelle Young, Co-op area manager, said: “We are committed to backing high streets and communities, we are delighted to serve up a brand new, larger store in Selkirk.
“Re-locating to a new, larger location on the High Street better serves and supports the local community.”
