Building excitement for at-home dining opportunities

ITALIAN foods brand Crosta Mollica has expanded on its mission to introduce more consumers across the UK to authentic Italian dining at home with its new product launches.
First up is a trio of new pizza options with the Collezione Romana range. Inspired by the broad and varied landscapes and food cultures to be found across Italy, the new range will launch into chillers across Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s stores from 1 September.
The three Collezione Romana pizzas consist of:
• Portofino – a spin on the classic Margherita pizza that has been made using Mozzarella di Bufala and Fior di Latte cheeses along with Pomodorini Gialli tomatoes, the pizza looks to capture the incredible colours and vibrancy of the Portofino coast. The pizza also includes a fresh basil sauce to be included after cooking, adding in additional layers of flavour and bringing a freshness and vibrancy to the meal.
• Bosco di Alba – a tribute to the truffles with flourish in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, this white-based pizza contains summer truffles that bring a nutty and earthy richness to the meal and have been paired with grilled mushrooms (or Fungi alla Griglia), sat atop a roasted garlic crema sauce.
• Bolzano – featuring hero ingredients from the Bolzano region and the bold flavours from the Alpine area, the pizza includes Salsiccia Speziata, a spiced sausage that has been paired with Cipolla Rossa, a red onion from Tropea in Italy. This has been cooked down with balsamic vinegar and fragrant rosemary to help echo the region’s cooler climate.
David Milner, chairman at Crosta Mollica, said: “The launch of Collezione Romana represents an evolution in everything we stand for as a brand – genuine authenticity, uncompromising quality, and respect for Italy’s incredible regional diversity.
“We love our core range, but we wanted to create an even more premium option for our discerning pizza fans. This isn’t about gimmick toppings, passing trends or simply jumping on the bandwagon to grab five minutes in the spotlight, but bringing a new yet still very real Italian pizza experience to people’s homes.”
Complementing this launch, Crosta Mollica has also introduced a trio of Pizzelle Dough Bites with its new Garlic & Chive, Speck & Ricotta and Tomato & Olive variants. Again reflecting the breadth of dining from across Italy, the trio have been cooked to be “familiarly different” for UK shoppers and offer a crunchy exterior coupled with a light and fluffy interior.
Dean Lavender, marketing director at Crosta Mollica, said: “Our research trips across Italy continue to inspire our NPD strategy and ignite our dedication and passion for bringing authentic regional experiences to our customers.
“The Collezione Romana represents months of careful development to ensure we capture the true essence of Italian pizza-making traditions, whilst our Pizzelle Dough Bites introduces British consumers to a genuinely Italian product they’ve never experienced in this way before.
“More often than not, doughballs are bland, dry and dull. It’s no surprise 75% of pizza shoppers steer clear of them. Instead, our Pizzelle will offer a product which not only tastes fantastic and can be joyfully served alongside pizza but also on its own to inspire and be part of other mealtime occasions.”
