Confectionery brand Flyers has launched its first non-liquorice sweet with the introduction of its new Apple & Raspberry Flyers.

CONFECTIONERY brand Flyers has taken a bold new step in its range with the introduction of its new non-liquorice sweet.

Aiming to make the most of the rising popularity of sour confectionery in the market, the brand has rolled out its new Apple & Raspberry Flyers variant featuring apple flavoured sticks with raspberry flavour crystals throughout the centre of the sweet.

The firm has called this new product a “bold move for the business” after its 79-year long history of flying the flag for chewy liquorice sweets. Despite this, Flyers said it recognises that liquorice remains a polarising sweet in the UK market and believes this new treat will help bring more shoppers to the brand than before.

Further to this, Flyers believes the rising popularity of sour confectionery options in the market will hold this new launch in good stead as the brand embraces its “first truly sour ‘magic in the middle’ stick”.

Andy Valentine, spokesperson for Flyers, said: “Despite three years of consecutive double-digit growth, Flyers is only now starting to realise its growth potential and with ‘Sours’ remaining the hottest trend within sugar confectionery, we spied the perfect opportunity to showcase our new Sour Apple candy sticks packed with tangy Raspberry sherbet crystals, thereby extending Flyer’s appeal to both a younger audience and intransigent ‘liquorice loathers.”
