Local retain chain PGNJ Group has marked a charity donation milestone of £20,000 by pledging further donations to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

SCOTTISH independent retail chain PGNJ Group has reached a significant milestone in its donations to local Glasgow charities, with total donations now exceeding £20,000.

The incredible achievement reflects the passion and generosity of PGNJ colleagues and customers across the chain’s 11 stores, with further locations in development for 2025.

Recent funds from the group’s work has gone to support the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which will help to ensure more babies, children and young people treated in Scotland’s children’s hospitals receive further specialist care.

Through the chain’s stores, as well as Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity initiative, PGNJ Group has managed to raise over £8,000 int the last year alone.

Jay Javed, director of PGNJ Group and 2023 winner of the Scottish Grocer Awards Entrepreneur Award, said: “The Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity is incredibly close to the hearts of our staff and customers. I’m so proud of what we’re achieved together.

“Every penny raised in our stores through MADL and other efforts is helping to make a real difference to children and families who need it most. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.”

PGNJ Group has a strong history of giving back through Nisa’s MADL initiative, with recent donations such as £1,000 to the Cambuslang-based James Aiton Primary School and £700 to the anti-poverty charity Glasgow Cash for Kids.

The stores raise money through a variety of initiatives, from donation tins at checkouts to the sale of Co-op own brand products across the estate.

“I’m sure the money will go to some fantastic initiatives to support young people treated at the hospital.”
