Product of the Year has found the UK’s top cleaning brand alongside the most important factors behind their purchases of cleaning products.

CONSUMER market research firm Product of the Year has found the top cleaning brand in the UK following from new brand research into the matter.

After conducting a poll of 600 UK consumers who voted on their top cleaning product, the consensus was clear and named Procter & Gamble‘s (P&G) Flash brand as the number one cleaning brand in the UK.

Taking almost half of the consumer vote – 43.6% – consumers picked Flash as the number one cleaning brand in the UK, with other brands such as Dettol (24%), Method (16.4%) and Mr Muscle (16%) drawing in votes.

This comes after a busy year for the Flash brand as P&G has launched a slew of new products under its name including two new Mrs Hinch scents – Vacay Vibes and Cosy Season – as well as the first Flash branded kitchen roll in partnership with Accrol.

Consumers were also asked to vote on the most important factors to them when it comes to buying a cleaning product, with nearly half the vote (46.9%) claiming they most valued ‘multipurpose’ cleaning products.

25.2% said they were most motivated to buy products that are ‘kind to the planet’, with a quarter stating it was down to those with a ‘nice scent’.

Helga Slater, managing director at Product of the Year, said: “Demand for cleaning products is on a steady incline, but with demand comes competition.

“Our mission is to provide recognition, to unearth the very best of the best, the innovators who are shaping the future of this category.

“Over the years, we’ve spotlighted all manner of products that serve customers’ daily needs and deliver true innovation from compact, dissolvable laundry detergent sheets to compostable wipes and anti-bac sprays that make grab-and-go cleaning jobs a breeze.”

With less than a week to go to enter the Product of the Year 2025 nominations, PoY is calling on new brands to get their submissions in on time to be in with the chance of gaining massive recognition on the UK stage.

Slater said: “We’re now putting a call to the next-gen of trailblazers in the category to enter before the deadline which is fast approaching. Don’t miss out!”
