NORTHERN Irish family firm Kestrel Foods has acquired Indie Bay Snacks from Nurture Brands.

The addition of Indie Bay Snacks sees another award-winning brand join the Kestrel portfolio which also includes Forest Feast, Acti-Snack and Just Live a Little.

The move marks part of Kestrel’s ambition to become a leading player in the snacking category, with varied range of snacking options under its umbrella.

Indie Bay Snacks offers consumers healthier savoury snacks for consumers within the grocery channel such as its Pretzel Thins which offer shoppers a lighter way to enjoy pretzels that contain 70% less fat than crisps.

This news comes after Kestrel reported a positive result for its flagship brand Forest Feast, which has grown over 30% in the last year due to an increase in brand awareness and penetration in the market.

Michael Hall, founder and chief executive at Kestrel Foods, said: “The acquisition of Indie Bay is aligned to our ambition of creating a fast paced and innovative snacking business.

“We believe Indie Bay offers consumers and customers something different in our portfolio, and we see great potential for growth through our strong brand, innovation and go to market capability.”

Adam Draper, managing director of Nurture Brands, said: “As Nurture Brands consolidates its resources around Rebel Kitchen, Emily and Jax Coco, I am happy to see Indie Bay go forward and become an important part of the Kestrel Foods portfolio.”
