THE GroceryAid Scotland Branch is seeking a new leader for the committee after co-chairs Jim Harper and Peter Steel announced they would be stepping down.

The pair have led the branch for nearly six years and have transformed the charity’s presence north of the border.

They have successfully raised both the profile of GroceryAid – ensuring c-store workers are aware of the support they can get – and the level of fundraising in Scotland.

Under their leadership, initiatives such as the flagship Checkout Scotland music event, Christmas hampers raffle and Just Dae It campaign have seen the branch break through the £100,000 fundraising barrier in a year for the first time ever.

The most recent Checkout Scotland music event took place on 5 September and saw representatives from across the industry come together to help support the worthy cause and enjoy music sets, including from Johnny Marr who headlined the 2024 gathering.

The pair said: “It is right to refresh the leadership for the next phase of what has been a fantastic journey for us. We know that, whoever becomes the new chair, the future is bright and exciting times lie ahead for the team.”
