DUNBAR-BASED brewery Belhaven Brewery has picked up two wins at this year’s Scottish Beer Awards and Icons of Beer Awards.

Belhaven Black has secured the award for Best Porter or Stout in the style category at the Scottish Beer Awards, beating out 10 other finalists for the top spot.

Offering consumers a 4.2% ABV drink, the stout has been brewed using unique Belhaven yeast and a blend of roast barley, black malt and light roasted chocolate malt to create a smooth and full-bodied stout.Alongside this gong for Black, the brew was also a finalist in the Best British Style Ale category.

Belhaven Black also received a complete revamp to it pack design earlier this year, making use of a darker colour palate to reflect the deep coffee and chocolate flavours found inside the stout.

Further to this, the brewer also picked up the highly commended status at the Icons of Beer awards for its Visitor Experience, marking the third year in a row for Belhaven to pick up the gong.

Fiona Matheson, senior brand manager for Belhaven Brewery, said: “We are proud to have secured such brilliant results this month for Belhaven Black and our Visitor Experience with such notable bodies.

“We are passionate about how we create our beer and how people can experience the brewery and its joy to share our history and our brilliant beers with the general public who visit us from across the world.”
