Alpro has a sweet expansion on Barista line
PLANT-BASED beverages brand Alpro has launched a new Caramel Flavour in its range of Barista-style drinks.
Aiming to provide more of a Barista-style experience for consumers at home, the new plant-based milk has been made using both a mixture of oats and soya and is completely suitable for vegans and is dairy-free.
The Alpro Barista style drinks claim to offer consumers a perfect option for foaming to put into their hot drinks options.
Danone – the firm behind Alpro – reckons the new beverage will be a popular one with consumers as well, as IRI data has noted a double-digit growth for plant-based drinks in the UK, rising up 19.2%. Further to this, Alpro’s own Flavoured Barista InnoTest survey found that caramel is also the preferred flavour choice of UK consumers.
The new Alpro Barista Caramel Flavour comes in a 750ml pack with a price of £1.75 and is currently available in Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.
Tom Kerr, head of category management for plant-based at Danone, said: “We know a lot of people are consistently seeking out flavours when it comes to their coffee drinking habits, with research showing that around 66% of consumers have an interest in purchasing the caramel concept.
“Ensuring we’re addressing consumer flavour preferences is vital as we evolve our portfolio. However, we also remain committed to helping shoppers live a healthier lifestyle.
“The introduction of Barista Caramel Flavour which combines great taste with the added benefits from calcium, vitamin D2 and B2, reassures people that they’re making a healthy choice when making their coffee.”
