Family bakers kick off Scotland footie support
TRADITIONAL baked goods brand Brownings The Bakers has kicked off its support for the Scotland national team ahead of the Euros with its new pastry pie.
Dubbed ‘The Tartan Army Pie’, the Ayrshire-based bakers has launched a new savoury showstopper ahead of Scotland’s first match – and the first match of the competition – against Germany on 14 June.
Made with a traditional Scottish dish in mind, the new Tartan Army Pie has a Scottish beef mince and tattie (potato) filling with a puff pastry top.
The Tartan Army Pies will hit shelves across Scotland from 11 June with a presence in over 100 Spar stores, all 105 Aldi Scotland stores, selected Morrisons as well as in Brownings’ own six retail stores in Ayrshire.
Brownings reckons there will be plenty of hungry football fans keen to pick up on this new launch for themselves ahead of the upcoming tournament with the family-run firm keen to ensure it becomes as popular as its Famous Kilmarnock Pie and Scotch Pie.
John Gall, managing director at Brownings The Bakers, said: “We’re really proud to be kicking off this year’s Euros with the launch of Scotland’s first official Tartan Army Pie.
“We wanted to create a showstopping pie that not only reflects the quality and heritage of our family craft bakers, but with something that the nation could take to its heart as we support our national football team this summer.
“Our Tartan Army Pie has a traditional Scottish beef mince and tattie filling and delicious puff pastry top, which we hope will appeal to football fans and pie lovers across Scotland.”
