Bladnoch distillery has rounded off its Waterfall Series of whiskies with its new Waterfall 05 2024 Edition marking the fifth and final dram in the series.

BLADNOCH, Scotland’s southernmost distillery, has rounded off its premium Master Distiller’s Waterfall Series with the launch of its fifth and final expression.

Bladnoch Waterfall 05 2024 Edition is set to be unveiled at the distillery’s annual Waterfall festival event which will take place on 18 May this year.

Released annually since 2020, each expression has been curated by Bladnoch’s master distillery Dr Nick Savage and aims to explore the world of whisky maturation and highlight the unique flavours and character the Galloway spirit holds.

The fifth and final single malt has been finished in second-fill Oloroso sherry puncheons to round all the flavours created over time with the result coming as a whisky with a sugary profile with notes of dates and nutmeg.

The resulting malt comes bottle at 47.7% with a sweet flavour that fits in well with tastes typically associated with Christmas including sticky toffee pudding, treacle and floral nutmeg.

Dr Nick Savage curated the Waterfall Series resulting in five distinct whisky expressions.

Waterfall 05 2024 Edition is limited to only 1,000 individually numbered bottles with an RRSP of £140 making this a key whisky for collectors or consumers seeking something extra premium whether as a gift or to sip and enjoy.

The Waterfall Day event is an open and free event for over 18s with priced events taking place during the day including The Dragon Series tasting.

Dr Savage said: “This is a milestone occasion for the distillery as we proudly complete the Waterfall Series. Crafting this series of exceptional whiskies has been a wonderful journey.

“At the beginning of the process in 2020, I selected a single malt from a combination of sweet ex-bourbon casks and intense Oloroso sherry casks, to form the basis for the full set of five editions.

“The first release really showcased the whisky at the beginning of its maturation journey and at the end of each year, after bottling each batch, I assessed how the whisky matured to make my selection for the next cask type for a new layer of finishing where flavour and character would develop further for the next edition.

“This created a waterfall effect which inspired the creation’s name, and it’s a privilege to complete the series.”
