Tomintoul Distillery helps Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team
SPEYSIDE single malt brand Tomintoul has made a sizeable donation to the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) to help purchase new equipment.
As ‘The Official Spirit of the Cairgorm Mountain Rescue Team’, Tomintoul Distillery has pledged to assist the local rescue team in identifying the areas in which support is needed most, with funds donated going towards some much-needed kit and supplies to help save lives.
A welcome addition to the mountaineers’ kit was the £8,000 Easy Pulse CPR device, which will allow the team to continue carrying out rescue missions efficiently and successfully.
Willie Anderson, deputy team leader at CMRT, said: “When involved in rescues, it is impossible to maintain CPR while we have a casualty on a stretcher.
“The Easy Pulse device can maintain chest compressions automatically during the time a casualty is carried to safety.
“This is really important for us, particularly with avalanche victims, and can give a casualty a viable chance of life when in the past, without this device, there would be no hope for them.
“It truly is a really exciting new addition to our rescue equipment.”
