Bringing the best of Scotland’s drinks to retail channels
GLASGOW-based spirits distributor Kilninian has officially launched, aiming to bring more Scottish drinks brands to independent retail stores across the UK.
Founded by Jamie Williamson, the new drinks firm includes high-quality Scottish spirits such as Glaswegin, King’s Inch single malt, Turntable blended scotch, the vegan scotch whisky liqueur Liquid Oats and Kirkjuvagr Orkney Gin.
Williamson said: “Kilninian is more than a distributor – it’s a conduit connecting stories, heritage and unparalleled quality to the UK’s thriving independent spirits retail market.”
The Kilninian founder has worked in the spirits industry for over a decade now, with experience with firms including Marblehead Brand Development, Glen Moray Single Malt and Don Papa Rum with stints with Barwell & Jones wine agency, Old Curiosity Distillery and Douglas Laing & Co.
Now Williamson is keen to make an impact on the off-trade with a mission to empower more independent retailers across the country through access to a range of premium spirits known for creating enthralling narratives, according to the firm.
To illustrate this, Kilninian has said that Turntable blended scotch makes for an excellent example, with the small-batch whisky blender committed to “flipping the record on ordinary” by creating more experimental blends for the market.
And to build on this, Kilninian has revealed that it will soon be adding more renowned, premium spirit brands to its repertoire, helping to connect more retailers with the quality drinks brands that Scotland has to offer.
Williamson said: “With each brand we bring onboard, we are curating a tapestry of tales waiting to be shared over a glass of exceptional spirit. I couldn’t be happier with the portfolio we’ve already assembled, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
