DJ Naeem has joined the stellar line-up for Checkout Scotland with the message that the GroceryAid music event is one the Asian retailing community shouldn’t miss.

The experienced hip-hop and R&B DJ said: “We want them to feel welcome and included – and there will also be food and drink to cater to Asian tastes.

“I’m really excited to be involved and want to contribute to Checkout Scotland both with my music and by making my fellow Asians aware that this event is for them – as is the GroceryAid charity and the fantastic help it offers.”

The DJ decks guru will be playing two sets at the bash, which takes place on 31 August at Barras Art & Design in Glasgow.

The first will see him team up with a dhol drum player outdoors and feature some popular Asian music. The second will be indoors and will be more mainstream.

As head of symbol for United Wholesale (Scotland) in his day job, Naeem Khaliq said UWS also wanted to get the message out to both its own employees and convenience retailers and staff that GroceryAid could help with both confidential advice and financial support.

Crossover dance music icon Example will headline the bash, with Irish girl group B*Witched and Scottish indie rock band The Supernaturals also among the top acts taking part.
