THE Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) has reported a rise in the latest footfall stats compared to the same time period in 2022.
On the whole, Scottish footfall increased by 12.2% year-on-year in the four weeks to 28 January, according to SRC-Sensormatic IQ data.
However, this was still a poor performance when compared to pre-pandemic figures as, when set against the same period in 2019, footfall was found to have decreased by 6.8%.
SRC director David Lonsdale said: “While the uptick provides retailers with a flicker of hope that Scots are rediscovering the pleasure of in-person shopping, the continuing cost-of-living squeeze could bear down on discretionary spending in the months ahead.”
