PERSONAL cash withdrawals from the Post Office rose to a whopping £892 million in December.
The record sum was up 6.7% month-on-month and 11% greater compared with the £801m taken out in December 2021.
Personal cash deposits amounted to £1.28 billion, dipping slightly from the £1.29bn of November.
In total, £38.4bn worth of cash was deposited and withdrawn over the counter at 11,500 branches in 2022.
PO banking boss Martin Kearsley said: “Millions of people continue to visit their local Post Office to withdraw cash in order to budget.
“In addition, postmasters are processing tens of thousands of Energy Bill Support Scheme vouchers for prepaid meter customers every week.”
